Social Networking Maximization
written by Adam Cupples (@ACupples)
When I get asked “Does Social Networking help you for business?” I sometimes just feel like saying….. yaah TOTALLY (insert valley girl voice)
But besides that question I frequently get asked the following:
1. What Social Networking tools does this media-savvy, innovative stud use?
Me: (the stud or valley girl): Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
2. And why?
Me: I, rarely, but could tell you what I had for breakfast, or how much I hate the rain/heat//insert severe weather gripe here, or how mad I am at Jesse James for what he did to Sandy, but there’s more to it.
All these virtual tools are around for another reason: it’s good for business and they work!
People forget that these virtual tools Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, FriendFeed or whatever works for you can be used to build relationships, not just maintain previously established ones.
The goal of this post is to get you thinking of how these virtual tools have benefited you in building relationships professionally and even personally (who knows you may have found an excellent plumber because of a friend of a friend recommendation)
Do you have any tips to share? Any negative experiences or downsides to them? Please share the good, the bad and the in-between!
In my next few blog posts I will share my experiences with these “virtual tools” and relationship-building. I would love your feedback and will incorporate it in my post. Leave a comment or email me at acupples@strategisadv.com and look for next Wednesday’s post.
